On Saturday, December 7, scooter groms & ams showed up to shred KTR’s 1st annual Kactus-Con competition! Contestants came ready with their bags of signature tricks, making it a fun contest to watch and a tough one to judge. Great job to everyone and thanks for coming out!
Beginning this Saturday (NOV. 19), KTR will be running Best Trick contests for both skateboards and scooters during the 6-10PM session. Each Saturday of the month, you’ll have a chance to win a free ICEE from the Snack Shack, and on the last Saturday of the month, $20 cash! See you there!

KTR is happy to be teaming with AZPX, iSkateboard.org and the Foundation for Blind Children to help make blind skaters who dream of skateboarding, a reality this holiday! Tommy Carroll, a visually impaired skater from Illinois, will be flown into Arizona to help inspire and work with kids from the foundation. The clinic is being held at KTR. Yesterday, the skaters at KTR got to meet Nitro Circus’ touring action sports athletes, Aaron ‘Wheelz’ Fotheringham. Aaron is unique in that he rides skateparks just as any skateboarder would, but in a wheelchair. And what he can do with a set of wheels is beyond amazing and inspiring. It was an awesome demo seeing Aaron shred the Street and Mini-Mega courses. Check out the recap below.

On Monday, September 30, 2013, MTV Nitro Circus’ own Aaron Fotheringham “Wheelz” will be performing a demo at KTR! The demo takes place from 4-5PM in the Mini-Mega and Street course areas. Entry is FREE. Don’t miss this opportunity to watch, meet and be inspired by one of Nitro Circus’ own touring athletes! Nitro Circus LIVE will be coming to the Phoenix area in 2014, and now you’ll be able to say you’ve met Wheelz! The Nitro team will also be equipped with giveaways for after the demo. Come skate KTR on Saturday, April 20 from 12pm-6pm, and help raise money for the non-profit organization Skateistan. Skateistan helps to improve the lives of underserved kids around the world by providing a safe environment for eduction and recreation, as well as, offering equipment and instruction needed to learn and enjoy skateboarding! 50% of Open Skate admission fees from 12-6pm sessions will be donated to Skateistan. It’s going to be a good time with music, contests and raffles all day! Learn more about Skateistan on their website.
If you haven’t heard, X Games has gone Global! With summer skateboarding events in Brazil, Spain, Germany and L.A., competitors have been selected to represent countries from all across the globe. KTR’s Jagger Eaton has been invited as an alternate to represent the US at the Foz Do Iguacu, Brazil, stop in the “Big Air” event, April 18-21, 2013. This means he needs to be prepared to skate at a moments notice. Jagger will be departing for Brazil a week before the event. Catch the Games on ESPN, here’s a full schedule to see FOZ air times. Invites for Barcelona, Spain- Munich, Germany and L.A. will be announced in the coming months as well.
Last weekend in Orange, CA, was the 2013 VANS Amatuer Combi Pool Party. KTR Academy skater and Queen Creek, AZ, resident, Trey Wood, was among those invited to compete in the contest. Trey placed 7th in the 14 & Under category and walked away with a little extra spending cash. This contest is a World Cup Sk8 contest, and attracts top amatuer pool skaters from various countries each year. For full results click here.
